Today, the first flight using Jet A1 fuel co-processed in Colombia with renewable materials took off from Barranquilla Airport (BAQ) to Bogotá (BOG) at 7 a.m. This event, attended by representatives from Civil Aeronautics, LATAM Airlines Colombia, Ecopetrol, the Minister of Mines and Energy, World Fuel Services, and other government entities, highlights the collaborative efforts to promote sustainable aviation.
World Fuel Services, in collaboration with Ecopetrol and LATAM Airlines Colombia, is increasing the production and use of co-processed Jet A1 fuel. As part of this initiative, hundreds of flights will utilize 16,000 barrels of Jet A1 co-processed 1% renewable materials, produced by Ecopetrol and distributed by World Fuel to airports in Barranquilla and Medellín.
"World Fuel Services is proud to join this important initiative to commercialize the co-processed jet fuel produced by Ecopetrol, destined for LATAM Airlines, with the aim of reducing carbon emissions. Globally, World Fuel has supplied more than 170 million litres of sustainable aviation fuel, and to now be able to achieve this in Latin America, with a fuel produced and consumed locally, demonstrates the strong commitment of World Fuel and its strategic partners to make this dream a reality and continue to expand access to these fuels in the region," said vice president, supply LATAM, World Fuel, Andrés Roque.
